Turret commander

Turret Commander App Review

Turret Commander is a gaming app developed and published by Kylinworks. It is available for free in the app store.

Turret Commander places you in a jet fighter in control of its err, turret which you’ll be using to blast enemy fighter planes that try to bring you down. You swipe (or tilt) left and right 360 degrees and use your guns and missiles to blow enemies away. Basically, if you’ve played Galaxy on Fire 2 (GoF2), you’ll know how this game works. It’s just like a stand-alone app for the turret mode in GoF2. But with endless number of enemies 🙂

There are two different modes in Turret Commander: the Mission mode and Endless mode. The Endless mode pits you on an endless stream of enemy fighters with progressive difficulty. This mode has different settings that can be unlocked as you progress. The Mission mode is a bit easier as it only has specific objectives in order to complete the level. You earn in-game currency by completing missions. You can then use this money to buy/upgrade to a better weapon.

There have been comments on how  the controls are very sensitive. You can adjust them though to fit you’re liking and once done, you’ll easily enjoy bombing hordes of enemies.

Turret Commander was priced before at $2.99 but it is now using a freemium model and it is being given for free. I think that this is a good move considering that the whole gameplay is just another mode in GoF2. I was lucky enough to get it for free but even then, I don’t think that this is a good download (probably because I have played GoF2 before). But hey, if you love flight simulator and shooter games, why not give it a try? It’s free anyway.
