Hexar.io Review, Tips, and Tricks

Hexar.io is a fun little game developed by MochiBits. The game is kinda similar to a multiplayer Snake (yes, that old school mobile game). Only this time, you don’t make it longer, you try to cover more ground.

The game starts with you having a small patch of land (7 hexes, you get a larger patch if you watch a video ad and help the developers make some money). You capture more ground by encircling/enclosing it and looping back to your already captured ground/territory. As mentioned, the game is multiplayer so there are also other players with you in the game. They also try to gain the largest area possible and yes, they can also capture your territory.

This is where the fun starts – you can kill and you can be killed. You can be killed by other players if they hit your body/tail or if you bump your head to your body or another player’s head. That goes the same for the other player. It is actually pretty fun trying to out maneuver your opponents. It also gets a lot tricky if you already have a large patch of territory as

The graphics are pretty basic but despite of that, Hexar.io is still a fun game to play. As such, requirements of the game hardware-wise are pretty minimal which means any device can handle it . However, since it’s a multiplayer, you will also need network connection if you want to play.

Overall, it’s an interesting game and it can be very addicting. It’s a fun little game that’s perfect when you’re waiting for the bus or you have some time to spare.

The game is available for both iOS and Android platforms. If you’re an iOS user, you can get it here. Android fans, you can download it from here. Oh, it’s also available on Amazon!

Hexar.io Tips and Tricks

  1. You can’t get killed when you are on your own territory. As much as possible, I try to stay inside my territory whenever there’s an enemy nearby. I wait for them to try to cover more ground and then I attack and kill them. You can also wait for them to enter your own territory and then you attack them.
  2. Slowly and steady is key. Try to avoid capturing a lot of ground in one go because this means that you’ll have a longer body which another player can easily hit.
  3. I see others having a different color/image for their territory color and a different one for their head. I think this is bad because when you’re inside your territory, you can easily be seen. If you have the same head and territory color, there are times where opponents would not notice you and you can attack them.
  4. There are available green dots that show up from time to time. These green dots speed your movements up. Only use them when there’s an opponent nearby.

I’ve captured the whole map in hexar.io and no one else would spawn because there was no room.

whoa! best I’ve got was like 80-90% because I can’t monitor stuff from the other side of the map

I wonder if this game is truly multiplayer? I ran the app while in airplane mode with wi-fi turned off. I don’t understand how new players could join in a map in that state?

Another point… I feel this game was easy to beat once I got the feel for it. I don’t think human players would make it so easy.
